Superbike World Championship 2022 awaits BMW Motorrad Motorsport this coming weekend

The fifth event of the season at Donington Park is the home race for the two BMW works riders Scott Redding and Eugene Laverty as well as for Shaun Muir Racing.

Donington Park. A special round of the FIM Superbike World Championship 2022 awaits BMW Motorrad Motorsport this coming weekend. The fifth event of the season at Donington Park (GBR) is the home race for the two BMW works riders Scott Redding (GBR) and Eugene Laverty (IRL) as well as for Shaun Muir Racing.

After about a month’s break, BMW Motorrad Motorsport and the two teams, the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team and the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team, are aiming to take the next step forward at Donington Park. The FHO Racing BMW Team has received a wildcard and will be competing with rider Peter Hickman (GBR).

Ilya Mikhalchik (UKR) will once again race as a replacement for Michael van der Mark (NED) in the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team. The Dutch rider will be there at Donington Park, but is still recovering from the femoral neck fracture that he suffered at Estoril (POR).

BMW Motorrad Motorsport used the break after the race at Misano (ITA) for brief testing at Donington Park. Redding and Loris Baz (FRA) evaluated a range of updates for the BMW M 1000 RR, including changes to the electronics and the chassis.

Fans at the Donington Park race will also be able to welcome a well-known guest racer on the BMW M 1000 RR. Having claimed three wins together with the M RR at this year’s Isle of Man TT, Peter Hickman and the FHO Racing BMW Team will be competing as wildcard entrants in the British round of the WorldSBK.

Hickman already has some WorldSBK experience, including his appearance as a replacement for Markus Reiterberger (GER) at Donington Park in 2019 for the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team

The wildcard spot marks the WorldSBK debut for the FHO Racing BMW Team, for which Hickman is also enjoying success in the British Superbike Championship (BSB).

It’s been a long time coming. Our first sighting of the next-gen Honda Civic Type R in prototype form was a year ago. Honda’s official teaser campaign has been running for a full six months, and today we have yet another teaser for the hotly anticipated hot hatch. This teaser is different, however. This one tells us when the teaser train comes to an end. Save the date for July 20, 10:00 p.m. EDT / 7:00 p.m. PDT.

That’s when Honda will finally, officially, remove the camouflage and debut its new Civic Type R to the world. History buffs will recognize July 20 as the date when Apollo 11 landed on the moon; 2022 marks the 53rd anniversary of the event and we have no idea if Honda has something moon-related in store. A new-car debut certainly doesn’t compare to humankind’s first steps on another world, but this will almost certainly be the last high-revving Type R before electrification takes over. It’s certainly a special occasion in the automotive realm.

What can we expect when the covers finally come off? The new Civic Type R will remain a front-wheel-drive machine, confirmed directly by Honda as it set a FWD track record at Suzuka back in April. Its time was barely a second faster than the previous record-holder, which happened to be the current Civic Type R. As such, we can postulate that the engine won’t see much of a power bump, if any. Sorry folks, rumors of a wild 400-horsepower monster are likely untrue.

Last week, an online leak allegedly revealed five exterior colors for the new Type R. Black, white, grey, red, and blue were listed, but Phoenix Yellow was missing. Could the iconic Type R color be slated for a future special edition model?

As for styling, the standard-issue 11th generation Civic is a conservative evolution from the previous iteration, and we expect a similar design flavor for the Type R. Big vents in the front fascia and a bigger wing at the back are still in store, as we can see that much from camouflaged prototypes. Based on our sightings, we created a rendering of how the final car could look and it is indeed toned down versus its predecessor.

Beliau berkata kekhilafan kerajaan Pakatan Harapan (PH) ketika itu yang menarik balik rayuan tuntutan ke atas Batu Puteh bukan sahaja meninggalkan satu duluan yang buruk, tetapi turut mencatatkan satu detik hitam dalam sejarah negara yang berdaulat.

“Sebagai sebuah negara yang berdaulat, tiada ruang untuk pemimpinnya mengambil ringan atau alpa dalam mempertahankan kedaulatan negara, walaupun sekecil atau sekelumit saiz kawasan yang menjadi rebutan, setiap inci perlu kita jaga dan pertahankan.

“Kerajaan PH pada masa itu telah khilaf dengan menarik balik rayuan tuntutan ke atas Batu Puteh dan ia bukan sahaja telah meninggalkan satu precedent yang buruk kepada negeri dan negara, tetapi lebih daripada itu mencatatkan satu detik hitam dalam sejarah negara kita yang berdaulat.

“Semoga tindakan undang-undang diambil ke atas pengkhianatan ini,” katanya ketika menggulung perbahasan titah Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar pada persidangan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Johor semalam.

Onn berkata meskipun ada pihak beranggapan Batu Puteh yang berkeluasan saiz sebesar padang bola iaitu 8,560 meter itu tidak memiliki kepentingan ekonomi yang signifikan, namun ia mempunyai kepentingan dari sudut kedudukan strategik maritim serta terletak begitu dekat dengan Johor, iaitu 14.3 kilometer dari Tanjung Penyusop, Johor berbanding 46 kilometer dari Changi, Singapura.

Pada 16 Jun lepas, Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar semasa merasmikan pembukaan Penggal Persidangan Pertama Dewan Undangan Negeri ke-15 turut menzahirkan kekecewaan dengan keputusan kerajaan Persekutuan kerana membatalkan rayuan tuntutan Batu Puteh pada tahun 2018.

We've already known that the Nova 10 series is in the works. In fact, a previous leak already provided a rough estimate for a July launch and some renders and specs. Nothing compared to today's fresh and pretty massive leak, though, which details at least two distinct models - the Nova 10 and the Nova 10 Pro.

Let's start with the live image first. It showcases what seems to be the Nova 10 Pro on the far right in silver - a slightly taller phone with a distinctly protruding camera island, just like in earlier photos and renders. Next to it in the photo is the regular Huawei Nova 10 in a trio of eye-catching colors and rocking a similar, slightly more compact design.

Then we have a pair of images with fairly detailed specs to look at. Let's start with the Nova 10 Pro. It measures 164.24 x 74.45 x 7.88 mm and tips the scale at 191 grams. It has a 6.67-inch, FullHD+ (2652 x 1200px), 120Hz OLED display. At its core is a Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. KUALA LUMPUR – Menurut Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dan Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pihak berkuasa di America Syarikat (AS), kes kerosakkan paru-paru akibat EVALI adalah berpunca daripada penggunaan kandungan terlarang yang terdapat di dalam cecair seperti tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) iaitu minyak ganja yang mengandungi Vitamin E asetat (yang digunakan untuk memekatkan campuran e-jus vape).

Prof. Dr. Sharifa Ezat Wan Puteh, Pengerusi Malaysia Society For Harm Reduction dan juga Pakar Perubatan Kesihatan Komuniti dan Ekonomi Kesihatan daripada Fakulti Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) berkata, ramai pihak termasuk komuniti kesihatan di negara ini telah menyalah tafsir punca sebenar EVALI yang sebelum ini dilaporkan di AS dan menyebarkannya maklumat tersebut secara salah.

Prof Dr Sharifa Ezat berkata, “Ini tidak sepatutnya berlaku kerana sebagai penyelidik mahupun individu yang berada dalam bidang kesihatan dan sains, taksiran harus dibuat berdasarkan fakta dan bukti. Sejarah pesakit sangat penting. Contohnya jika pengguna vape turut menggunakan bahan bahan terlarang lain dalam vape mereka, sejarah merokok yang lama, dan komorbiditi lain yang turut menyumbang ke kerosakan paru-paru”

“Jika kita melihat fakta daripada pihak berkuasa AS, kes yang berlaku sehingga 18 Februari 2020 adalah 2,807 kes kecederaan paru-paru berkaitkan kes EVALI yang akhirnya mengakibatkan 68 kematian di 30 negeri.”

“Dari 2,022 pesakit yang dirawat di hospital, 82% daripada pesakit dilaporkan menggunakan produk yang mengandungi bahan terlarang iaitu THC yang mengandungi Vitamin E asetat.

Pihak berkuasa di AS telah mengaitkan kes EVALI tersebut dengan perkara ini dan ini adalah fakta yang telah diabaikan oleh ramai pihak,” katanya.

“Vitamin E banyak digunakan dalam makanan dan digunakan dalam bidang kosmetik. Ia selamat digunakan dengan cara sapuan ke kulit namun ia bukan untuk inhalasi dalam ruang paru-paru,” katanya.

Katanya, EVALI setakat ini hanya dilaporkan berlaku di AS pada masa itu dan tiada lagi kes dilaporkan selepas itu. Malah juga tiada laporan di negara lain. Maklumat yang menyeluruh perlu dinilai dengan teliti atau membuat keputusan yang berat sebelah. Untuk mereka yang tidak merokok atau telah berjaya berhenti merokok dengan jaya, maka tiada keperluan mereka mula mengguna vape.

EVALI terjadi kerana penguatkuasaan AS mengenai penggunaan vape adalah sangat rendah, dan tersilap dalam polisi yang tiada kawalan ketat sehingga memudahkan remaja mereka menggunakan vape sewenang-wenangnya. Kesan negatifnya juga termasuk memudahkan penyalahgunaan bahan dadah dalam vape mereka.

Selepas insiden tersebut, perundangan di AS telah diketatkan sekarang dan penguatkuasaan juga dipertingkatkan supaya tiada perisa (flavour) dibenarkan sewenang-wenangnya. Tegasnya, vape bukan untuk mereka yang tidak pernah merokok atau remaja.

Tidak dinafikan penggunaan vape, turut memberi kesan kesihatan kepada penggunanya tetapi jika dibandingkan dengan rokok tembakau (yang melibatkan pembakaran), risikonya adalah lebih rendah, kerana vape tidak menghasilkan pembakaran, asap seperti rokok yang melibatkan beribu-ribu bahan kimia dan karbon monoksida. Beberapa kajian luar negara juga menunjukkan bahawa ketagihan rokok tembakau, apabila dicampur dengan bahan-bahan kimia rokok tembakau yang banyak, apabila dibakar akan meningkatkan penagihan tembakau yang teruk dan lebih sukar untuk pulih dari penagihan tersebut.

Sekiranya penggunaan vape digunakan mengikut piawai yang betul tanpa sebarang penyalahgunaan dalam cecair seperti ke yang berlaku di AS, ia dapat memberi manfaat kepada pengguna terutamanya perokok tegar untuk berhenti merokok. Sebagai contoh, standard ketat oleh Eropah, Canada dan UK, di mana cecair vape perlu melalui saringan ketat dalam makmal-makmal bebas dan ditauliah oleh kerajaan masing-masing dan buktinya tiada kes EVALI di negara tersebut. Malah terdapat bukti dan kajian menunjukkan kadar merokok di negara tersebut telah menurun.

Dalam pada itu, Prof. Sharifa Ezat juga memberitahu tiada kes EVALI dikesan atau dilaporkan di negara lain ataupun Malaysia yang berpunca dari pengunaan vape secara ‘normal’. Mungkin ini akibat kurangnya surveillans, tetapi juga kerana tiada sejarah pesakit yang tepat, termasuk sejarah merokok yang kronik. Beliau berpendapat, sekiranya vape dibenarkan penggunaannya terutamanya kepada perokok tegar, ia mampu memberikan manfaat dari segi pengurangan kemudaratan tembakau dan menurunkan populasi perokok tegar. Ini sejajar dengan kemajuan negara maju lain seperti New Zealand, Jepun, UK yang telah mencatat penurunan prevalens perokok tegar dan perokok beralih ke vape yang rendah risiko.

“Berdasarkan anggaran, kadar perokok di Malaysia akan mencatat penurunan dari 4.88 juta pada tahun 2019 ke 4 juta pada tahun 2025 kerana pelbagai sebab termasuk penggunaan vape untuk perokok berhenti merokok. Statistik ini adalah sejajar dengan statistik beberapa negara yang membenarkan penguatkuasaan vape yang diguna sebagai salah satu terapi mengurangkan risiko tembakau, selain NRT. Ia adalah fakta yang tidak dapat dinafikan kerana pada masa ini semakin ramai perokok telah cuba bertukar kepada penggunaan vape di Malaysia untuk berhenti merokok tetapi ia perlu pengawasan dan kawalan,” katanya.

The Navy SEAL and What Leaders Get Wrong

It was a common sight during the scorching Iraqi summers — a family sleeping on an elevated platform outside a shack.

But as Navy SEAL Commander Mike Hayes peered through his green night-vision goggles, something about this scene felt a little different.

Suddenly, he saw the father begin to reach for an object.

“Instinct told me this was bad,” Hayes writes in his book Never Enough.

“I rushed as fast I could toward him before he could grab what did turn out to be a weapon. He was reaching for an AK rifle, just as I put my foot on his arm so he wouldn’t be able to point the weapon at me or any of my teammates.”

Hayes and a fellow SEAL subdued the father and, after a long interrogation process, discovered he was the No. 2 most-wanted enemy in Western Iraq.

Hayes is now removed from his days hunting insurgents — presently working as a chief digital transformation officer at a Silicon Valley tech company — but he recently reflected on some crucial leadership challenges that unite Navy SEALs and just about all of us as leaders.

To Hayes, there are essentially three key phases to any successful career:

1. Getting really good at something

2. Trying to show the world “you’re really damn good”

3. Being so confident you’re good that you no longer need to prove it to anybody

Many of us master the first two, but the third proves to be the real challenge.

“One of the things that young officers always wrestle with is how to walk the line between being a leader when a leader is needed to step forward but, at the same time, really having the humility that a lot of other people know a lot of things that you don’t know,” Hayes recently said on the Jocko Willink Podcast.

“When do I step forward and say, ‘All right, guys. Shut up, lock it on, we’re going in this direction,’ and when do you step back?”

Just about all of us as leaders were hired to our respective positions because someone trusted our skillset, our knowledge, our communication skills, our philosophies.

But far too often, we get the position and feel the need to overly prove ourselves and reinforce to everyone that we’re qualified.

“What I see often times is a lack of confidence that makes the person feel if they’re not in front of the room making the decision, then they’re not seen as the one in charge,” Hayes said. “It’s a failure of leadership when you can’t step back.”

Very few people would likely associate the military with hands-off, Type B personalities, but Hayes said the most effective SEAL commanders were often the ones who could appropriately delegate and make peace with not always being entirely in control.

The same applies to us. As leaders, we have to be comfortable enough in our own skin to distance ourselves from certain situations and instead empower our team members to take ownership — living with the results if they come up short.

It’s not weak to be hands off at times — and we’re no less of an authority for stepping back and acknowledging that we don't have all the answers.

“Leading from the rear is O.K.,” Hayes said.

Today was an important milestone in our journey toward creating the EU Data Boundary for the Microsoft Cloud. Earlier this year, we announced a new commitment for our public sector and commercial customers in the EU and EFTA: a promise to enable them to process and store all their data in the EU by the end of 2022. Our services continue to operate in compliance with European laws and regulations. But with this ambitious plan we are going above and beyond our prior commitments and regulatory requirements to meet our customers’ preferences and expectations for increased data residency and control and to help Europe realize its digital ambitions.

Since our initial announcement in May, we’ve begun the necessary engineering work and gathered feedback to better understand and adjust to customer needs and priorities. These discussions have reconfirmed just how important data, and control over data, is for our EU customers—to confidently embrace the cloud and foster data-driven innovation. These conversations have also reinforced the profound responsibility we have as a custodian of that data.

Building on what we’ve heard from our customers, today we convened an EU Cloud Customer Summit to share additional details about our progress and what’s next. The updates we provided, as well as our ongoing plans, reflect the customer feedback we’ve received over past months, and today’s discussion provided yet another opportunity for our customers to help shape the path ahead.

Here are some of the investments Microsoft is making for the EU Data Boundary by the end of 2022.

Data centers are at the core of customers’ processing and storage capabilities. We already have the world’s largest cloud infrastructure, with more than 60 datacenter regions announced to date, and we are adding more data centers and increasing capacity in our existing data centers in the EU. Since May, we’ve opened a new data center in Sweden and announced an additional site in Belgium offering local data residency and faster access to the cloud

Kuala Lumpur – Menteri Pertahanan, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein digesa untuk mendengar rintihan ratusan anggota veteran Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) yang berhimpun semalam bagi menuntut pembelaan dari kerajaan.

Ahli Parlimen Bukit Bendera merangkap Jurucakap Pertahanan DAP, Wong Hon Wai berkata, menteri perlu segera bertindak terhadap tuntutan yang dikemukakan para pesara antaranya pelarasan dan pelaksanaan pencen kepada veteran yang tidak menerima faedah itu.

Pada semalam dilaporkan kira-kira 1,000 veteran ATM dari seluruh negara berkumpul di Tugu Negara bagi menyuarakan tuntutan supaya kerajaan membela kebajikan mereka.

Pengerusi bersama perhimpunan dikenali sebagai Reunion Veteran, Mejar (B) Mior Rosli Mior Mohd Jaafar mendakwa, sudah lapan tahun pihaknya berjuang untuk menegakkan ‘hak kumpulan pesara’ namun semua tuntutan yang dibuat tidak mendapat perhatian daripada kerajaan.

Mereka turut menuntut pengampunan kepada bekas tentera yang diberhentikan kerana salah laku, pencen anggota sukarela yang dikerah sepenuh masa dan mengkaji semula pencen hilang upaya veteran.

“Sekiranya Menteri Pertahanan keberatan untuk membuat semakan, saya mencadangkan penubuhan satu Jawatankuasa Parlimen Rentas Parti yang terdiri daripada Ahli-ahli Parlimen kerajaan dan pembangkang untuk menghalusi isu-isu yang dibangkitkan oleh veteran ATM dan mendengar juga maklum balas daripada pihak ATM.

“(Jawatankuasa itu juga nanti akan mendengar maklum balas daripada) Pejabat Peguam Negara, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam dan Perbendaharaan serta mencadangkan penyelesaian atau pindaan terhadap undang-undang yang berbangkit,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Sementara itu, Wong menyatakan rasa kesal kerana perbelanjaan tambahan berbillion-billion ringgit oleh kerajaan dari segi perolehan kapal tempur pesisir pantai (LCS), sebenarnya boleh digunakan untuk mempertingkatkan kebajikan anggota ATM dan juga veteran ATM.

Walaupun Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia (Kementah) dan Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS) telah memeterai kontrak tambahan kelima pada 31 Mei baru-baru ini untuk menghidupkan semula projek Kapal Tempur Pesisir (LCS), namun maklumat kos tambahan tidak dizahirkan kepada awam.
